Woven ~ God’s Presence and Love For Us

Woven

Woven ~ a heart-shaped potato chip I found.  Sort of a belated Happy Valentines!

Woven

Your presence,
Woven into the very fabric of who I am.

Your goodness,
Extending seamlessly throughout my life.

Your mercy,
Threading my soul to eternity.

Your love,
Connecting me to You from every side.

****

“That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.”

John 17:21-23

Written on 4/12/14, three days prior to my neck surgery.  I was having fears about it all.  God reminded me that He couldn’t possibly leave me on my own, because His presence is woven into the very fabric of my being.

The same holds true this side of my surgery.  God continues to sustain, comfort and clothe me with His presence and love.

Blessings and much love, with whatever you are going through!

When No One Else Will ~ Love the Prodigals

**I have no idea how this happened, but this poem reverted back to a draft instead of published.  Sorry for the re-post!  But maybe there was someone else who needed it, right?

When No One Else Will

Love the prodigals
Out seeking life’s thrills;
Love the lost cases
When no one else will.

Love the undeserving
Whose lives are dark-filled;
Love the wanderers
Where no one else will.

Love the unworthy,
Those trapped in sin still;
Love the unlovely
How no one else will.

****

Who among us was not a prodigal, at some point?  God desires for His lost sheep to come back into the fold.  What part in that process is He calling you to today?

None are deserving, but all are still loved by the Shepherd of our souls.

****

“What do you think? If any man has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountains and go and search for the one that is straying? “If it turns out that he finds it, truly I say to you, he rejoices over it more than over the ninety-nine which have not gone astray.”
Matthew 18:12, 13

Surrounded by God’s Abiding Love ~ Snippets of Rain

Surrounded by raindrops

Surrounded by raindrops

Surrounded by God’s Abiding Love

I love you
With an abiding love.
It is not altered
By the certainty
Of your inadequacies.
It does not change
With the rippling tide
Of your shortcomings.
It does not fade
With the fluctuations
Of your loyalty.

It is constant,
Surrounding,
Abiding,
And everlasting.

“So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.”
1 Corinthians 13:13

Captured by Pain ~ Captivated by God’s Love

Ominous

Ominous ~ a recent storm approaching

Captured by pain
Yet captivated by grace sublime
Devastated in every way
Yet drenched in love Divine

God sometimes allows circumstances to capture us, in order to captivate us with His immeasurable love.

He will even use pain to stop the busyness and speak into our lives.  To hold us in His arms and drench us with His love.

My recovery from neck surgery has been rife with ups and downs.  With periods of strengths and setbacks.

Although I prefer the days without pain, it is during those weakened interludes that God grabs my full attention.  He is then able to remind me of His all-consuming love.

You may have noticed my infrequent blogging.  It is because of continued difficulties with computer usage.  Since I love writing and working with photos, my inability to do so has brought much discouragement.

The enemy wants us to focus on the ominous possibilities of our circumstances and dwell in devastated defeat.  To convince us that the life we once enjoyed has ended.  To permanently capture us with pain.

At its worst, though, discouragement cannot overtake God’s love.  Physical pain cannot extinguish it.  Hardship cannot prevent it.

No matter the difficulty, God’s love abounds higher, wider and deeper still.  Trials don’t have to destroy us; they can instead strip out the trivial and bring us closer to God.  We can discover afresh and anew that His word is true:

Nothing can separate us from God’s love.

I wish that things in life made sense.  The good news is that they don’t have to for me to know and experience a contentment found only in God.

When trials capture us, we can rest in God’s embrace, knowing that He is in control.

God wants us to focus on the magnificent certainty of His promises and dwell in contented rest.  To believe that the purposes He intends are yet realized.  To forever captivate us with His love.

God will use anything to drench us with an awareness of His everlasting love and His grace, so sublime.

“I will sing of the Lord’s unfailing love forever!
Psalm 89:1
NLT

“You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good.
Genesis 50:20a

God’s Love Invading

Color invading the surroundings

Invading ~ the surroundings

God’s Love Invading

I look around
And see God’s love
Invading
Every aspect of my life
And that’s a good thing

It’s flame
Igniting every fiber of my soul

I look behind
And see God’s mercy
Covering
Every sin-stained part of me
And that’s a saving thing

It’s benefits
Blessing every step of my eternity

I look ahead
And see God’s faithfulness
Fulfilling
Every one of His promises
And that’s a wondrous thing

It’s encouragement
Conquering every doubt in my being

I look above
And see God’s handiwork
Amazing
Every crevice of my heart
And that’s a glorious thing

It’s majesty
Rising up as praise in my spirit

“Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: let such as love thy salvation say continually, The LORD be magnified.”
Psalm 40:16

I took the photo above, while on a trip with my husband to the Gulf earlier this year.  This was just one of the stunningly beautiful sunsets we saw.  It was as if the hues of orange and red invaded our surroundings, rendering permanent change to the landscape.

God invaded the landscape of our world with love, when He sent us the Son. Through Jesus, the Father’s love drew near, and dwelt among us. However, God never intended that love simply to come near and just surround us. He longs for Christ’s sacrificial love to invade us, in a good way.

*If you let God, His love will invade your depravity, erase your past, and rearrange your destiny.  He will interrupt your plans and ignite your spirit with a song of praise.

Have you merely heard of God’s love?  Will you allow His love instead to invade your life, for good?

Shackled by the Cold ~ Outside God’s Embrace

Frozen Nandina berries

Frozen Nandina berries

Shackled by the cold
  Hearts callously unaware
Outside God’s embrace

It snowed in Mississippi yesterday, which it rarely does.  I got outside and took some photos, but had to bundle up due to the extreme cold.  When I uploaded this photo of these Nandina berries encapsulated by a frigid shell, it reminded me of the coldness of a heart separated from the warmth of God.

Of souls shackled in sin’s callous grip from rejecting Christ.

Frozen nandina berries
God loves everyone, but we must choose whether to embrace Him.  It is when we draw near to God that He responds by drawing near to us.  The light of His presence brings warmth; His embrace ushers in the healing our cold hearts so desperately need.

Friday Feature ~ You

Feature FridayToday I felt led to pour encouragement into those hurting, lonely or sad.  To those beat up from life’s storms.

You feel lost in the shuffle.

Although God does not want us to fall into the trap of self-worship, that never diminishes the truth that He loves us.

That He loves and cares for you.

Today’s feature is about ~

You

It may not be your birthday,
But God is singing over you with pride.

To others you may not matter,
But you’re the apple of His eye.

You may have little left to give,
But what you offer Him is a pleasing sacrifice.

You may just want to quit,
But in you God’s potential still resides.

Others may have left you high and dry,
But God is ever on your side.

You may not feel that special,
But God knew you before He formed you inside.

You may not feel beautiful,
But all God makes is good and right.

Believe it or not, You matter.
To God.
