Friday Fill in the Blank ~ A Break From the Intense!

Fill in the BlankSince I spent this past week sharing about my Painful Saga, it has been a little intense on my blog.  I am taking a break from this series and will pick back up where I left off next week.

Today just seemed like a good day for round two of Friday Fill in the Blank.  Instead of my thoughts, I would LOVE to hear from you.  The guidelines are the same.

*Share a verse from your devotion or a song for the day.
*Post a link to your site with a brief summary.

After posting, please read others thoughts and leave a comment.
Today is a day for connecting with fellow bloggers and directing readers back to your site.

Begin the dialogue.  Simply fill in the blank.

If nobody else needs to hear your thoughts, I sure do!

Blessings!

Sweet Friday Feature

Feature FridayMostly because I love thoroughness, I can get lost in the moment of whatever I find myself doing.  Since I also love researching, a task many find tedious, I often notice small details.  As a result, I love close-up photography.  To me, the more details in a photo the better, especially when captured with pristine sharpness.

Today’s featured artist is a photographer and author whose images are often of the macro type, which I love so much.  She does something that has captured my attention even more than her pictures, though.  She uses her photography and writing talents to honor God, and along the way inspires others to do the same.  Today’s Friday Feature is:

Rene Yoshi
Sweet Capture Photography
Sweet Rains

Rene states in her About page that she loves capturing images and moments through the lens of a camera.  She does so with skill.  As a photography hobbyist, I have learned so much from Rene’s artistry in her images.

Because of my busy schedule with nursing, I have limited time to explore photography.  One technique I have not yet learned is using textures with photos.  Rene’s uses of this technique with some of her photos have inspired me to try it.  Here are two of my favorites of hers, in which she uses this lovely technique:

A Single Tulip
The tulip bud is a tiny flower from a bouquet given to her by her daughter.

Crab apple blossom

On her website, Sweet Rains, Rene publishes thoughtful, encouraging posts and usually throws in her own photos to enhance the messages.  In her About page, Rene describes her love of photography, but also for the Bible.  Her messages reflect her love for the Lord, and she always stay grounded in Scripture.

Recently, Rene started something she calls Wisdom Wednesday.  Weekly, she posts proverbs or other wisdom verses from the Bible, along with a comparable proverb or wise saying from a different culture.  Throughout the ages, there have been wise sages, and we can often glean from them.  However, what I have appreciated about these posts is how Rene very clearly shows that all wisdom stems from the God of the Bible.

Follow this link to a recent Wisdom Wednesday

You don’t want to miss her photography blog, though, Sweet Capture Photography.  Here is another of my favorite photos of hers called:

Teacups

On both of her sites, Rene appreciates feedback and interacts with her readers through prompt replies.  I encourage you to visit them, and click follow to enjoy getting to know Rene through blogging!  You will very much enjoy her posts as she captures sweet images and moments from her life.

Happy Friday Feature!

Feature Friday

Before I introduce my featured blog for the day, I want to wish all my readers and fellow writers a very happy Friday.  Some of you may write for a living, so today may not be any different from another since you do not punch the Monday through Friday time clock.  I work as a Registered Nurse during the week, and only get to write in my spare time.  Even though I like nursing, Fridays are still reasons for celebration.  To those of you who share in my enjoyment and anticipation of much needed time off, Happy Friday!

Since I began my Friday Feature posting, I have highlighted several fellow Christian authors.  For the most part, those I featured have numerous followers and supporters.  Today, I would like to introduce someone who, like me, blends into the enormous community of Christian blogs; someone who, due to lack of exposure, might otherwise be overlooked.  However, today’s author is someone whose posts I never tire of reading. Please welcome:

 Dr. Jeff Krupinski

Dr. Krupinski has a no frills site, so if you are looking for bells and whistles, move on.  Instead, he posts daily devotions, which although not accompanied by snazzy photos or glitzy adornment, are straight to the point Truth from the Word.  He begins his devotions with Scripture, offers his unique perspectives and tips for practical application, challenges with pointed, thought provoking questions, and then ends with prayer.  The longer I have read his blog, the more I have come to appreciate his style and his consistent format.  Although basic, his site is refreshing in that it frees readers from the burden of distractions, and allows them to glean instead what Scriptural devotion followers came for in the first place – to learn more of about God’s Truth and how best to follow Him.

One of things I have discovered from following other sites is that many writers develop topical themes, similar to how pastors often have sermon series.  I tend to write all over the place, part of my somewhat ADD personality, I suppose.  I would categorize Dr. Krupinski as one of those writers who develops his thematic points gradually, daily, and I like this.  One of my favorite of his was from his February posts, in which he wrote on forgiveness.  The following link is to this post, in which he poignantly makes the connection of pride as a hindrance to the need for forgiveness:

2/27/13 Daily Devotion

I encourage my readers to check out this terrific site.  Dr. Krupinski does not share an About page, and for some that may raise concerns.  In my opinion, though, About pages are subjective anyway, and as such construed to convey personal information however the author chooses, whether accurate or not.  What I have found by reviewing a new site, and certainly by following one of interest, is that it does not take long to hear the person’s heart by what one writes.  If a true follower of Christ, it will be evident as Truth consistently and unashamedly bleeds through.  Dr. Jeff Krupinski fits this profile, and is a consistent messenger of Truth and a bright beacon of light for Christ.

Join me in following along as Dr. Jeff Krupinski – Brings God’s Word to the World.

Addendum: Dr. Krupinski is a minister, who is married with three children. He has doctorates in both Theology and Counseling, written numerous bible study booklets, and published three books.  This added information about his background is not at all surprising considering the quality of his daily posts.  Due to concerns as to coming across as bragging, he does not routinely share his accomplishments. Thanks for the information Dr. Krupinski!

Friday Feature

Feature Friday

I mentioned last Friday that I have decided to start highlighting some of my favorite Christian blogs.  As we work together toward the common goal of exalting the Name of Jesus and proclaiming the good news of His gift of salvation, we are like ‘iron sharpening iron‘ for His glory. Below is a brief summary of one of these blogs with a link to the site. Immediately following this Friday Feature post is also a Reblog of one of my all time favorites from their site. Today’s Feature is a very engaging blog called Eyes Wide Open.

Eyes Wide Open

Author Annie makes uses of captivating images to tell her stories and share her passion for Christ in hopes that others will “seek a relationship with Jesus, or deepen the one” they already have. She sees her writing as “a form of worship” and describes that her greatest hope is “to help spread Christ’s love to others by providing encouragement, inspiration, and sharing the things He is teaching.” Her blog is powerfully engaging and the photos she uses have a way of grabbing one’s attention and sealing the messages straight to the heart. As you read this Reblog following today’s feature blog, I know you are going to be blessed and hope you will join in “Looking Up and Living in God’s Truth” by connecting with this wonderful site!

*NOTE: please click the word Reblog to see Annie’s testimony from her site. For some reason the actual one does not put her photos the way she designed them on her actual site, giving the full intent of her testimony.

Friday Feature

Feature Friday

One of the surprises I have discovered about blogging has been the discovery of so many other wonderful Christian blog sites. I have decided to feature some of these on Fridays. I will post a short description about the site from my WordPress blog and then immediately follow this with a Reblog of one of my favorites of theirs.

Today will be a little different because the featured site has graciously asked that I write a guest blog. Rather than a subsequent Reblog, simply follow the link below to read my post, Forever – Period, but more importantly to discover a great site!

A Woman Like Me

Sadie and Sophie Cuffe are sisters and the authors of this lovely website. They feature daily devotions and serial fiction excerpts, which are always God-honoring and speak straight to the heart. Geared especially for today’s Christian women, they invite others to check them out and enjoy the “fun, faith and friendship of sharing together.”  I trust you will be as blessed as I have been and join their blogging adventure!

Blessings always!
Sue
