Grace, Grace ~ Oldie Hymn

I felt compelled that someone needed to hear this old hymn today.  Didn’t hurt myself ~ just a link to a video with lyrics copied and pasted below.  I love this video version; it reminds me of an old-time black and white movie.

Nothing you have ever done is outside the power of God to forgive.  His grace is greater than all our sin!

Blessings as you listen and remember this timeless message:

Grace Greater Than All Our Sin

by Julia H. Johnston

VERSE 1
Marvelous grace of our loving Lord,
Grace that exceeds our sin and our guilt,
Yonder on Calvary’s mount outpoured,
There where the blood of the Lamb was spilt

REFRAIN
Grace, grace, God’s grace,
Grace that will pardon and cleanse within
Grace, grace, God’s grace,
Grace that is greater than all our sin

VERSE 2
Dark is the stain that we cannot hide;
What can avail to wash it away?
Look! There is flowing a crimson tide;
Whiter than snow you may be today.

VERSE 3
Marvelous, infinite, matchless grace,
Freely bestowed on all who believe,
All who are longing to see His face,
Will you this moment His grace receive?

Getting there, but it’s been no party! I tell my work friends, ‘one heck of a way to take a vacation!’ Ha! Thanks for you caring support Skye. Was praying for you this morning. I used to home school. It is a HUGE responsibility, but a worthy endeavor. Blessings for all you do!

Hi Rolain. Still a slow recovery. I posted a little about it yesterday, along with a pic of me still wearing my brace. Not sure when I will jump back full swing with blogging, but the Lord will guide me! Despite continued struggles, I am improving little by little. Thanks so much for asking and for the encouragement. Blessings to you, friend.

Thanks so much Lilka. Have really been missing my blogging friends. I am absolutely following doctors orders. I found out early on that I can easily deteriorate if I overdo it. Will hopefully be back soon with blogging. My first priority is to get strong enough to return to my nursing job, which my doctor has cleared me to do next week–very part time! Blessings on your day, friend.

Another of our dad’s favorite hymns – he was always all about grace. He also had a special place for nurses in his heart – calls you all angels in disguise! Thanks for the smile today. ❤

We give Thanks Sue that you are feeling strength for each day, yes it’s God’s grace that we give thanks for even in illness.

I love the old hymns too, they are great for teaching as well as for worshiping and it is why I also enjoy Scripture in Song and yes Spiritual songs too and even some that are known as secular but have God’s seeds of Truth planted in them.

It is good to be reminded in this Hymn you shared Sue that it is by Grace we are forgiven of all our past sin when we come to True heart repentance, this shows we believe in Jesus as our Lord and Saviour who set us free from the Slavery and bondage of sin.

Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

We are also covered by His blood and this is indeed Grace while we are being washed and so as we aim for it as Paul tells us to do, we are than Perfected in His Love and conformed into His image being Born again of God’s seed or Nature and so we no longer sin… How good is that!

1John 3 : 9 No one who is Born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been Born of God.

Amen to all, Anne. We must, out of love for God and to show we are truly his children, refrain from intentional sins. But since no matter how hard we try, we all are still guilty of being sinners, how marvelous is God’s cleansing grace! Blessings

Sorry Sue about forgetting the Scripture reference it’s…..

John 8:34-36 Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

When we read the Scriptures with understanding Sue, we can see very clearly we do not sin at all after we have been perfected in Love but some mistake their weaknesses and shortcomings as sin and so do not understand this Truth, theses we do not judge. God tells us not to say we will continue to sin…..

Romans 6:11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

When we have put our evil flesh to death that causes us to sin (Romans8:12-15 – Colossians 3:4-6 -Galatians 24 -26)
and we have the seed or Nature of God, (1John 3:9 ) we cannot sin, He does not sin, cannot means absolutely never in the Greek. Paul tells us we are to aim to be perfected in Love, to win the prize which he and others did before they died, not after.

Just as the Scripture tell us, we are when perfected in Love and God’s Love does not sin, we do not fear eternal torment (see below) we also have the mind of Christ and are like Him in this World and He never chooses to sin or does He sin in any other way ever (1Corinthians2:9-16) there is no mention of a difference in the sin, sin is sin, this is why we are to rebuke and warn those in the Church who choose to continue to sin but why they sin or their motivation for doing so, we leave to God to judge and also if they will be saved, only He knows their heart.

1 John 4:17-19 Herein is our Love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as He is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in Love; but perfect Love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in Love. We Love Him, because He first Loved us.

Matthew 5:48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in Heaven is perfect.

Philippians 3:14-16 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you. Nevertheless, where to we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.

Anne, I appreciate your thoughts, but do differ with you in the aspect of us ever being perfected enough to be without sin until heaven, when our our sinful nature will be freed from the curse of sin and Satan forever gone. Until then, I must die daily to my sinful self and choose to put off the old man and walk instead by the Spirit. Doesn’t mean that because I stumble and sin that I’m no longer a child of God, it’s just that only Christ is perfect and although we strive to be like him, we aren’t God.
Without Christ’s moment by moment help, I make an ugly and very sin-filled mess of my life!
Praise be to Him and the amazing wonders of His grace
        Blessings and thanksfor stopping by!

I realize that is what you have been taught or believe Sue I also thought this was True untill I asked for the empowering of the Holy Spirit and God’s wisdom, I will leave a link below for you.

    Wisdom – http://alifeofhopeandjoy.wordpress.com/2011/11/16/the-gaining-of-wisdom/

Proverbs 4:7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

We need to believe what the Scriptures confirm, not what others say or we think is True, or we will be in error, have you put your flesh to death by The Spirit Sue? see below.

Colossians 3:4-6 When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming.

Galatians 24 -26 And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. if we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

2 Corinthians 7: 1 Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

Romans 8 :12-15 Therefore, brothers, we have an obligation—but it is not to the sinful nature, to live according to it. or if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.

    God’s Blessings – Anne.

I pray blessings upon blessings for you, and absolutely harbor no hard feelings for our differences.
I just can never claim that I have reached a level of spiritual maturity to where I have no sin. 1 John 1:8
Gotta put my tired neck to rest. 😊

Sorry Sue, but this has nothing to do with harboring hard feelings for our differences, in the Body of Christ, we are to be of one mind as confirmed in the Scriptures.

We cannot reject the Scriptures Sue because we think and feel we are right, they tell us very clearly that when we are Born Again we do not sin, cannot sin (see below) it is also being disobedient to God to say we will continue to sin (see below) He tells us not to say this, or we will go on sinning, as we think so we do, we have been set free, we must not Trust in our own fleshy understanding or feelings and we are to believe what Jesus tells us, not others.

Romans 6:11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

1John 5 18-20 We know that no one who is Born of God sins; but He who was Born of God keeps him, and the evil one does not touch him.

1 John 3:1-11 (9) No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born of God.

John 8:34-36 Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

Romans 6:22-23 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Daniel 12:10 Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.

1 Peter 2:24 Who His own self bare our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

1 John 3: 1-11 ( 6-7 ) Whosoever abideth in Him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen Him, neither known Him. Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as He is righteous.

1 John 2:4-6 He that saith, I know Him, and keepeth not His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoso keepeth His word, in him verily is the Love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in Him. He that saith he abideth in Him ought himself also so to walk, even as He walked.

Romans 8:1-4 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Sue, the refrain of this hymn is my favorite one to sing of all the refrains I’ve learned. Grace means that God gets all the glory. Gotta love that. Thank you for the reminder. (By the way, I just read your comments above, and I believe you spoke the truth in love. Gentle hug.

My beloved and very Godly mentor used to say (she has been busy partying in Heaven for the last few years after reaching the grand old age of 94 and still dreadfully missed) that the closer she grew to the Lord, the more she could see her own sinfulness against His purity. No one else could see it in her, but she could. And it was interesting to hear Dr Chuck Missler speaking of this very thing just recently in his… James?… (I think) series. He asked, “How spiritual do you think you are? How much do you hate sin?”… Alas, we will all continue to struggle with the world, the flesh and the devil until we join the party in heaven… and to keep choosing His way, not our own… anyway food for thought. No need for a response. We just want to see you completely well again. 🙂

I love the way Missler explains things! Agree totally.
I am doing better, but my husband’s health took a nosedive. When I can ever come up for air, am going to try to update my blogging friends. He has been in ICU and very sick, but God has been working mightily on his behalf and he will hopefully go home from the hospital soon. Thx for checking on me. Praying I can return to blogging soon, but gotta be there for the love of my life!!

Thanks. Will hopefully write a post about it all. It’s just that when your husband almost dies from bleeding after a procedure, blogging or social media becomes a very trivial priority.
